Breastfeeding moms should have the opportunity to enjoy the outdoor activities of their choice; here are the top 5 tips you can do to feed your baby with confidence even when you are in public.

1. Breastfeeding in public is your right.

The single biggest thing breastfeeding moms need to know is that it is their right to breastfeed their baby in public and no one can stop them from exercising their due right.

If you find someone looking at you while you are breastfeeding in public, just smile back as you are just exercising your right and doing nothing out of this world.

2. Rehearse a little at home.

Breastfeeding moms need to do a little practice at home.

By breastfeeding your baby in front of the mirror, you will be psychologically training your brain to get accustomed to breastfeeding your baby when someone else is watching you.

Further, it would also help to a great deal if the breastfeeding mom tries out different kinds of dresses to see which dress you feel most comfortable in.

3. Choosing the right mix of clothes.

It is extremely important for a breastfeeding mom to try out different clothes combinations to see which suits her most perfect and that will make her feel comfortable when she breastfeeds her baby in public.

While different types of nursing clothes, such as the likes of nursing tops with a small cut, nursing tops with zippers and vertical cut nursing tops among a host of others are available on the market, you can also choose the option of sewing clothes that have special openings to make the breastfeeding process easier.

Most of the time, you will find it very convenient to wear a loose-fitting T-shirt.

4. Pick the right spot to breastfeed your child.

For the first time moms, finding the right public spot will make them feel more comfortable when breastfeeding their baby.

The ideal location for breastfeeding your baby would be the one where mom is less visible to the public and second, the place offers someplace to sit that has a comfortable back to support mom.

Furthermore, if the mother is out to enjoy some food with friends, she can choose to sit in a booth where she will only be seen by her companions when she is breastfeeding her baby.

5. Cover up yourself.

Sometimes the breastfeeding mom is very shy and feels very uncomfortable feeding her baby in public.

In such a case, it is best that the mother completely covers herself with a light blanket or shawl to feed her baby with complete ease without worrying about anyone watching her during the process.

While some women feel that covering up is a violation of their basic right to breastfeed in public, for others it makes a whole lot of difference.
