Do not take over the counter medicine without the doctor’s prescription

During your first trimester, you may experience pain and decide to purchase pain killers to get rid of your bad feeling.

You should always ensure that you consult a physician to advise you whether the drug you are taking has any side effects.

Taking medication drugs without advice from health experts may lead to a negative impact on your body and hence endanger the life of your unborn.

Over the counter medicine, that is not prescribed by the doctor may lead to health complications that may result in miscarriage, stillbirth, or deformities to the unborn.

You should always consult a physician when taking medicine.

Do not go to spas and saunas

Spas and saunas are recreational areas that you need to avoid in your first trimester.

Spas and saunas have facilities and machines that increase your body temperature above 37 degrees Celsius.

You also avoid hot baths as it increases the temperature of your body, which may be detrimental to the life of your unborn.

Environments that expose you to high temperatures should be avoided.

Avoid taking caffeine

You should limit the use of caffeine even if you feel you need to refresh your body with a drink.

Caffeine taking for a pregnant mother is not suitable for the growth of the fetus inside your body.

Frequent taking of caffeine increases your chances of getting a miscarriage.

If you feel the urge for drinking, take the milk and a lot of water to keep your body dehydrated.

Do not smoke or take alcohol

If you are in your first trimester, it is advisable to stop the use of alcohol and cigarette smoking.

Cigarette smoking poses many health hazards to the life of unborn babies, including retarded growth.

Since the first trimester is when the fetus is undergoing growth and development, cigarette smoking interferes with the growth cycle leading to a complication that may result in miscarriage and stillbirths.

It also affects brain development and impacts on the weight of the unborn baby.

You should also avoid alcoholic products for the sake of your health and that of your unborn baby.

Alcohol intake increases the chances of getting a miscarriage during the first trimester.

Avoid exposure from high voltage devices and other communication appliances

Video display terminals, telegraph transmissions, and other communication devices emit harmful radiations that may affect the life of the unborn baby.

You should limit your exposure to things such as x-rays and other communication appliances since they produce harmful emissions that might lead to complications such as congenital disabilities, miscarriages, and genetic problems for your unborn baby.

Avoid the consumption of processed meat and unpasteurized dairy products

During your first trimester, you should avoid taking processed meat such as sausages and other dairy products since they contain harmful bacteria that have a negative impact on the life of the unborn.

The bacteria could harm the life of your fetus and damage some of the organs.
